Ricketts Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Columbia
Wednesday, August 21st , 2024
Caleb Ricketts saw his 20-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Hickory Crawdads win over Columbia at Spirit Communications Park. The 24-year-old first baseman was held hitless in 3 at-bats by the Columbia Fireflies, but his teammates produced enough offense to take the game, 5-3.
"Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Ricketts told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 20 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good."
In 110 games this year Ricketts has posted a .276 average and put up these numbers: 10 home runs, 53 RBIs and 50 runs scored.
