SAL Reliever of the Year Award Winner Named Sunday, October 2nd , 2022 George Clark said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 23 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Delmarva Shorebirds rising star has won the South Atlantic League Reliever of the Year Award for 2022. He captured the award on the strength of his 0.59 ERA over 46 innings. He also had 33 saves in 44 relief appearances, 63 strikeouts and only 12 walks. He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 14. Burt Walters of the Hickory Crawdads finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Thomas Irvin of the Columbia Fireflies finished third.
