McClain Guns Downs 16 AquaSox Saturday, July 29th , 2023 Everything was working for Dave McClain today at Everett Memorial Stadium. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The curveball was working. In an unforgettable performance, the 26-year-old McClain fanned 16 AquaSox and sparked the Boise Hawks to a 11-1 victory over Everett. He left AquaSox hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. "I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Boise manager Billy Gardner. "His location and command were really something." In addition to collecting 16 strikeouts over 7 innings, McClain allowed 4 hits and 1 walk in a superlative outing. "I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," McClain said with a smile. This season McClain has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 7-4 won-lost mark and a 3.40 ERA. In pitching 79.1 innings, he has totaled 114 strikeouts and 20 walks.
