Gone Again! 3 HR for Wade Monday, July 24th , 2023 It was a day for the record books for Viera Nationals right fielder Nelson Wade, who walloped three out of Champion Stadium against the Braves. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the Braves from taking the 8-5 victory. "We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," Viera skipper Jason Wood joked after the loss. Wade still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 3-for-3 for the day, batting in 4 runs and scoring 3 times. "I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," Wade said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time." Nelson Wade walked in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Josh Kirkland in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Josh Kirkland in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Michael Johnson in the 9th. |
