Big Day for Hernandez: Swats 5 Hits
Even as a kid, Vicente Hernandez said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Whitaker Bank Ballpark, Hernandez showed how well he learned that lesson.

The 26-year-old first baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Lexington Legends, helping his team knock off the Lake County Captains by a score of 9-8.

"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."

Vicente Hernandez singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Oswaldo Vasquez in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and singled in the 11th.

This year, Hernandez is batting .375 with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs.
