Velasco Batters Hartford Big Time
|
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Miguel Velasco today -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at NewBridge Bank Park, but the performance lost a little luster when the Grasshoppers were downed 6-5 by the Hartford Yard Goats.
After his glittering performance, the Greensboro first baseman told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat."
His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book.
"I just wish we had added a win in the record book today, too," Velasco said.
Miguel Velasco singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and grounded out in the 12th.
Velasco has collected 49 hits for the Grasshoppers this year, 6 of them home runs. He has also netted 19 RBIs and scored 17 runs while batting .304.
