Wilmington Takes Wildcard Series
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the American League Wildcard Series. It turned out quite a bit different.


The Wilmington Blue Rocks swept aside the Bakersfield Blaze to advance to the Division series, winning the final game by a 6-0 score at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium.

The series MVP was second baseman Carlos Almada, who hit .625 with a .625 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 2 runs.

"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."

The Division series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
