Knight Bangs 4 out of the Park
|
Nothing could stop Joseph Knight today -- certainly not the Detroit Red Wings pitching staff.
The 18-year-old left fielder for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs sent 4 baseballs soaring out of Mike Ilitch Memorial Field and made his name a part of history. Behind his barrage, the Blue Crabs took a 9-2 win over the Red Wings.
"In the standings, a loss is just a loss, but this one was frustrating," Red Wings manager Lee Alonzo said later. "He clobbered us."
Knight's dream game included 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 homers, 5 runs driven in and 4 runs scored.
"I know all the stories are going to be about me today, and that's OK," Knight told the press in the locker room after the game. "Next time, it'll be one of the other guys."
Joseph Knight hit a solo-shot off Yao-bang Joo in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Yao-bang Joo in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jordan Garcia in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Will Moss in the 9th.
Currently Knight is batting .224 with 4 home runs and 7 RBIs.
