Twins Come Up Short at Baltimore, 5-4
|
The Baltimore Orioles did just enough to sneak past the Minnesota Twins, 5-4, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Baltimore pitcher Curt Stevens, in particular, had a standout performance. Stevens, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Chris Dauphin earned the save, his 1st, for the Orioles.
Baltimore took a 5-2 lead on Jesus Galvan's 1st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Galvan hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Minnesota pitcher Matt Lundy visibly frustrated.
"I liked his command," said Baltimore manager John Baltimore. "Curt was throwing strikes."
Baltimore goes to 6-13.
