Visalia's Castro Takes 2052 Most Valuable Player Award

Alex Castro took California Winter League by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 22.
For his spectacular campaign, the Visalia Rawhide star has been named the 2052 National League Most Valuable Player Award recipient.
"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the first baseman.
On the season he compiled a .375 batting average to go with a .476 on-base percentage. The native of San José, Costa Rica also added 16 doubles, 1 triple, 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
He received 18 first place votes out of a possible 30. Victor Rojas of the Potomac Nationals finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Scott Lind of the Daytona Tortugas finished third.
