Usami Gets Award for Relief Work
Wednesday, November 19th , 2053
At the age of 22, Kenichi Usami says he still has a lot to learn about life in New York-Penn League.
But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Brooklyn Cyclones reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2053 National League Reliever of the Year.
"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Tokyo, Japan native said.
For the season, Usami had 4 saves in 46 relief appearances, which totaled 94. He fanned 69 betters, while walking 27 and put up a record of 10-3 to go with his 2.68 ERA.
He received 30 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jayden Cody of the Milwaukee (NYP) Brewers finished second in voting, while Kyle Rindels of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes finished third.
