Sheldon Tags 3 HR Against Shockers Sunday, December 31st , 2051 Fans are still buzzing after University of Illinois whipped the Wichita State University Shockers by the score of 8-1 today at Illinois Field. D.J. Sheldon smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the first baseman bashed out 4 hits in 5 at-bats, had 7 RBIs and scored 3 times. At the postgame press conference, Sheldon said it was an "unbelievable" feeling to hit three home runs in a game. "Getting one homer is special, and two is great," Sheldon said. "Three is just... wow." D.J. Sheldon grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Pat Nagel in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Steve Phelps in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Mike Rauch in the 8th. This year Sheldon is batting .332 with 27 home runs and 72 RBIs. |
