Charlotte Racers starter Dan Cuff was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Houston Astros, 6-1. With the win, Charlotte upped its record to 31-18.

The Racers got a big hit from left fielder Canaan Smith-Njigba. In the bottom of the fifth, Smith-Njigba pounded a 2-run home run to left. His 13th home run of the season put the Racers ahead, 5-1.

"I thought we played a nice game," Smith-Njigba told the Charlotte Bulletin. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
