Round 1 Goes the Distance, Lake Elsinore Prevails
It went the distance, but the Lake Elsinore Storm finally disposed of the Inland Empire 66ers 6-5 in the series clincher at San Manuel Stadium.

Winning the finale gave the Storm the series, 4-3. They will now advance to the Round 2.

The Most Valuable Player Award went to Lake Elsinore center fielder Juan Ortiz. He batted .435 in the series, collecting 3 RBIs and scoring 3 runs.

"Juan deserves it," said Storm manager . "He was the glue that held our club together."

The Lake Elsinore Storm will play against the Modesto Nuts in the next round. Modesto won their series against the Stockton Ports 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
