Verdugo 4-for-5 in New York Win
The timely hitting of Alex Verdugo helped the New York Yankees down the San Francisco Giants, 13-9. Verdugo went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Yankees. New York leads the American League East Division by 3½ games.

Izaac Pacheco had a big 2-run double for the Yankees in the bottom of the first inning. With New York trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Micah Ottenbreit, who finished 5th in the NL in saves with 37 in 2028, and swatted a double to right. It was his 20th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Yankees ahead, 2-1.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Pacheco. "And not try to do too much."
