Detroit starter Costa Sirounis put a stranglehold on the Toronto offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Tigers to a 3-1 win. Sirounis went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 12-7. Detroit goes to 80-56. The win puts them 5 games up in their division.

The Tigers got a lift from third baseman Zavien Watson, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a solo home run. His 15th home run of the season put the Tigers on top, 3-1.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Detroit skipper Brooks Powalie. "I can't complain."
