Chicago Loses, 7-5, to Cincinnati in 10
|
The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Chicago Cubs, 7-5, in 10 innings. Doing his part was shortstop Dan Kernan, who hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Cincinnati reliever Danny Vega picked up the win, upping his record to 6-5. Burl Carraway absorbed the loss. Cincinnati is third in the National League Central Division with a record of 63-73.
Kernan had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a first pitch fastball from Burl Carraway, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Reds a 7-5 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Kernan.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Kernan.
