Big Day by Ordones Ignites Braves Win
|
Atlanta right fielder Ivan Ordones contributed to his team's 5-2 win over the Washington Nationals. Ordones, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in hits with 190, went 4 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Braves. Mason Pelio earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 3-4. Daysbel Hernandez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 38 of 43 save opportunities.
Ordones had a timely hit for Atlanta in the bottom of the seventh. With Washington trailing 2-1, he turned a 1-2 changeup into a 3-run home run. It was his 53rd home run of the season, making it 4-2, Atlanta.
"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Ordones. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."
With the win, Atlanta raised its record to 81-69.
