Athletics Clip Mariners 3-2 in R1 Contest
|
With starter Pat Elliott leading the charge, the Las Vegas Athletics defeated the Seattle Mariners, 3-2, in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series today. The right-hander threw 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs at O.co Coliseum to help Las Vegas take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Manny Mateo had a critical at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the sixth for Las Vegas. He came through with a 3-run home run to put Las Vegas in front, 3-2.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Las Vegas manager Stephen Gilmore told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at O.co Coliseum in Las Vegas.
