Brewers Hammered by Tonkin, Drop Game 3 to Diamondbacks
|
Riding the 4-hit performance of second baseman Brad Tonkin, the Arizona Diamondbacks stopped the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, 9-7, in Game 3 of the Divisional Series today. Tonkin hit 3 home runs, while scoring 4 and driving in 4 for the Diamondbacks, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
Had Will Clark IV not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Clark IV hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Diamondbacks.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Tonkin, "and then get after it again."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Chase Field in Phoenix.
