Athletics Top Red Sox, 6-1

The Las Vegas Athletics topped the Boston Red Sox, 6-1, in American League action at Fenway Park. The standout performance belonged to Las Vegas pitcher and Elk Grove Village, Illinois, native Pepe Díaz. Sixto Sexton, now 3-0, was credited with the win. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 1. The last-place Athletics now have a win-loss record of 25-39.
Las Vegas used a clutch hit from Donnie Ellis to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Athletics ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"We had a nice day," said Las Vegas skipper Stephen Gilmore.
