Big Day for Smith as Astros Down Athletics, 10-7
|
Nolam Smith added some punch to the Houston offense, helping them outmuscle the Las Vegas Athletics, 10-7. In the game, Smith, who finished 3rd in the AL in RBI with 104 last year, was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Houston reliever Jaime Cortés picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Felipe Díaz took the loss. With the win, Houston pushed its record to 42-32.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Astros grabbed the lead when Smith hit his 4th home run of the season. The 3-run home run off Felipe Díaz made it 10-7, Houston.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Astros manager . "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
