Behind an impressive start by Diego Núñez, Houston beat Texas, 4-2. Núñez, now 11-6, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Heb Bates closed it out for his 18th save.

In the bottom of the ninth, Jerry Davis stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Rangers were trailing 4-2, but had runners on 2nd and 3rd. That's when Heb Bates made a terrific pitch and Davis struck out. Gone was the dream of a Texas comeback.

The win elevated the Astros to 59-48.
