The New York Yankees picked up a win at Globe Life Park in Arlington, knocking off the Texas Rangers, 6-3. On the mound for New York was right-hander Joseph Williams, who played a pivotal role in the win. Williams went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-3. Chuck Bennett converted his 26th save in 30 tries.

Rod MacKellar had a critical at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth for New York. He came through with a run-scoring single to put New York in front, 4-2.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said MacKellar.

The Yankees go to 59-54, putting them third in the American League Eastern Division.
