Rays Tagged with 7-3 Loss
|
Deron Williams impressed in the 7-3 Detroit win over Tampa Bay. Williams, who is tied for 9th in the AL in triples with 6, was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI. Daimajin Sasaki closed it out for his 10th save. Detroit is now 62-57, while Tampa Bay is 63-56.
Detroit catcher Tony Ríos contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a slider into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 72nd hit of the season and put the Tigers ahead, 2-0.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Williams told the Detroit Daily.
