Mariners Upend Royals, 5-4
|
The Seattle Mariners overcame a good performance by Kansas City right fielder Archibald Graham to knock off Kansas City, 5-4, at Kauffman Stadium. Graham went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. The winner in relief was Daron Taylor. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. The losing streak for Kansas City has now reached 4 games.
Seattle used a clutch hit from Willie Ruíz to get the win. The right fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mariners ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I was a little disappointed," said Kansas City manager . "We could've and should've scored more runs."
