Indians Get One-Run Win at Detroit
|
Cleveland beat Detroit at Comerica Park, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to center fielder Jerry Baker. He was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win belongs to Willie Brown in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Don Robinson took the loss for Detroit. Dusty Holman recorded his 38th save for Cleveland.
Baker had a timely hit for Cleveland in the top of the seventh. With Detroit trailing 3-2, he turned a full count fastball into a 2-run double. It was his 27th double of the season, making it 4-3, Cleveland.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Cleveland manager Gary Davis.
Detroit's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
