The Tampa Bay Rays got a magnificent performance from pitcher Derrek Fonville, who muffled the New York offense en route to a tight 2-0 Rays win at Tropicana Field. The Rays got a big at-bat from first baseman Chad Gordon. For the game, Gordon was 2-4 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 34th double of the season gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead.
