Twins Win Nail-Biter
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Chad Gordon, the Tampa Bay Rays lost to the Minnesota Twins, 6-5. Gordon went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Minnesota reliever Chip Wallace picked up the win, upping his record to 6-2. Ernie Newman shouldered the loss. Jermaine Griggs closed the game out for Minnesota, earning his 2nd save.

Minnesota used a clutch hit from Clarence Ashley to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Twins ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Minnesota field general .

With the win, Minnesota goes to 63-95, while the Rays fall to 85-73.
