Braves Knock Off Outlaws, 4-2
|
The Braves grabbed a win, 4-2, at Turner Field, overcoming a fine effort from Nashville pitcher Jerry Byrd. Byrd went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Gene Shannon earned the save for Atlanta, his 17th. The Braves sport a record of 35-57.
Atlanta took a 3-2 lead on Willie Ellis's 2nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Ellis hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Nashville pitcher Wes Galloway visibly frustrated.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Ellis, "and go after the next one."
