Pirates Beat Brewers, 4-3
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates did just enough to secure a victory over the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-3, at Miller Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Butch Mehlicj. Mehlicj picked up the win for Pittsburgh, going 5 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 4-7. Dusty Clark closed the game out for Pittsburgh, earning his 26th save.
Pittsburgh used the bat of Rod Marshall to get the win. The third baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Pirates ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We did enough to win," said Marshall.
The Pirates improved to 55-51.
