Dodgers Win, 2-1, at Atlanta
|
Fernando Valenzuela never let the Braves get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his screwball, to pitch the Dodgers to a win, 2-1. Curt Morrison earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record is now 5-3. The Braves, at 43-72, have lost 5 in a row.
Had Dave Parker not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Parker hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Dodgers.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Atlanta manager .
