Nashville Roughed Up By Cubs
|
The Chicago Cubs topped the Nashville Outlaws by a score of 8-1. Leading the way was shortstop Wayde Duncan. Duncan was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Cubs. Nashville's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
Pat Martin dealt the Outlaws a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Chicago leading 3-0, Martin, who finished 3rd in the NL in extra base hits with 70 last year, hit a 1-2 forkball for a 2-run single.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Duncan told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
