Brewers Deal Nationals 5-2 Setback
|
The Milwaukee Brewers trumped the Washington Nationals, 5-2, at Miller Park. Milwaukee catcher Randy Poffo was terrific. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Norm Stout got the win, improving to 11-8. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Washington has now lost 4 consecutive games.
With Milwaukee trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Poffo hit a fastball from Víctor Ramírez for a 2-run home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Brewers ahead, 3-2.
"It was a solid team effort," said Poffo after the game.
