Mets 2B Russell goes 3-for-3 in Win
|
The New York Mets stopped the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-3, at Miller Park. The Mets got a big game from Robby Russell, who went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winning pitcher was Spike Clark. His record is now 12-8. The right-hander went 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits for the Mets. With the win, New York goes to 79-55, while the Brewers fall to 84-50.
With New York leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Russell hit a run-scoring single off Milwaukee hurler Norm Stout. It was the 115th hit of the season for Russell and put his team ahead, 3-1.
