Patriots Down Bears, 7-4
|
In the 7-4 Massachusetts win over New Jersey, the impact of Andrés Foster was substantial. Foster, who is a five-time All-Star, went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Massachusetts reliever Edgar Vázquez picked up the win, upping his record to 7-1. Troy Gooding was saddled with the loss. The win elevated the Patriots to 47-40.
Massachusetts used a clutch hit from Miguel Carrillo to get the win. The shortstop drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Patriots ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Foster told the Massachusetts Today.
