Grays Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
The Virginia Grays moved to within one game of the National Cup Series today, downing the Alabama Iron on the road at Bo Jackson Ballpark by a score of 3-2. Grays right-hander Russ Haines had a strong outing. He threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Grays a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championships.

In his 99-pitch effort, Haines allowed 1 run on 6 hits over 7.1 innings. He walked 0 and struck out 8.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Alabama manager Jeff Hoffman. "But we decided not to take it."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bo Jackson Ballpark in Bessemer.
