Willett Thwarts Olympia, 7-0
Sunday, July 31st , 2101
The Olympia Thunder were almost helpless today in their 7-0 loss to the Idaho Falls Outlaws and hurler Walt Willett. Willett kept the Thunder confused all game, spinning a 1-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Willett," Olympia manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 30-year-old left-hander had 1 walk and 7 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Willett said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
This season Willett has been credited with 1 save. In 16 relief appearances and 120.1 innings he has a 10-4 won-lost mark, a 1.57 ERA and 100 strikeouts.
