Lions Turn Back Florida, 5-3
|
Anthony Render, who finished 3rd in the GEL in strikeouts with 215 in 2100, had a strong outing for the California Lions against the Florida Bluefish at King Coliseum. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Joe Amador notched his 4th save of the season. California, now 15-6, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Santiago Franco, who is tied for 10th in the GEL in bases on balls with 11, helped out the California cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 1 with 3 walks.
"Anthony had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said California manager Harry Wyma.
