SWHWL Wildcard Goes the Distance, Fort de France Prevails
|
The joy and relief on the faces of the Fort de France Sharks players was obvious as they celebrated their SWHWL Wildcard win over the Kingston Beat.
"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Fort de France center fielder Julio Vazquez, shortly after the 3-1 win that clinched the series 2-1. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."
The team is now off to the SWHWL Division Series.
Vazquez won series MVP honors on the strength of his .500 batting average during the series. He also had a .500 on-base percentage and 0 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 1 runs.
The Fort de France Sharks will play against the Havana Sugar Kings in the next round. Havana had a bye in the SWHWL Wildcard. The SWHWL Division Series schedule will be announced after the SWHWL Wildcard finishes.
