Raucous PNC Park Crowd Propels Pirates to 5-3 Victory; Series Tied at 1
The Pittsburgh Pirates nearly wasted a strong game from starter Matt Allan, but were saved by some timely hitting in a walk-off win over the San Diego Padres today.

Allan threw 5.2 innings of 1-hit ball. The win allowed Pittsburgh to force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 Division Series.

Pittsburgh won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and German Marquez on the mound for San Diego, catcher Joey Bart hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Pirates fans to their feet.

Allan told a Pittsburgh Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 10th , 2023 at Petco Park in San Diego.
