Giants Top Cubs to Even Record
|
In a low-scoring game between the San Francisco Giants and the Chicago Cubs, pitcher Edwin Castillo was masterful on the mound. The San Francisco right-hander spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Danny Granados earned his 21st save in 26 tries. The third-place Giants raised their record to 49-49.
San Francisco needed the clutch hitting of Joe Curran to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Giants on top, 2-1. For the game, Curran had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Castillo.
