Sounds Suffer 10-0 Drubbing from Stripers
|
The Gwinnett Stripers shut out the Nashville Sounds 10-0 today behind the strong pitching of Luis Winton. Winton surrendered only 4 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 7.
Following the last out, Winton appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Nashville manager , who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Winton's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Sounds skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Stripers press conference, Winton confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Winton said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Gwinnett manager added.
For this year Winton has chalked up 3 wins and 4 losses in 10 starts with 37 strikeouts in 68 innings and a 3.31 ERA.
