That's exactly what Steve Lakes did today at Port Au Prince Fields, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 18-4. "It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Lakes said. "Good things happen, when that happens." The Port Au Prince Independence right fielder blistered the Santo Domingo Blackbirds for 3 hits, batted in 7 runs and scored 4 times. "It ain't like we weren't trying," Santo Domingo manager said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today." Steve Lakes hit a solo-shot off Orlando Velazquez in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Victor Alvarez in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Chris Fallon in the 6th, walked in a run in the 7th and struck out in the 8th. Lakes is batting at a .312 pace this season, picking up 5 hits in 16 at-bats with 3 home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. |
