Even the most die-hard fans of the Kansas City (AZL) Royals will likely now start focusing on next year. The team was today mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

"We're disappointed," said Royals starting pitcher Jon Stewart. "Not just for ourselves, but also for the fans that stick with us every year."

The Royals are still searching for their first playoff appearance. They haven't made the playoffs in all 10 years of their history.
