St. Louis-Philadelphia Deal: Goldschmidt for Harper Monday, July 31st , 2023 After a week of negotiations, the Cardinals and Phillies have come to terms on a deal that will send 35-year old 1B Paul Goldschmidt, 23-year old minor league RHP Alex Brown, 20-year old minor league RHP Andy Webb, and 18-year old minor league 3B Alex Castro to Philadelphia for 30-year old RF Bryce Harper, 26-year old 3B Nick Maton, 30-year old 1B David Bote, and 32-year old LF Chris Taylor. Philadelphia will retain a portion of Harper's remaining contract. Philadelphia will retain a portion of Bote's remaining contract. Philadelphia will retain a portion of Taylor's remaining contract. This year Goldschmidt has hit 9 home runs and posted a .266 batting average. Thus far this season Harper has hit .229 with 17 home runs, 62 RBIs and scored 54 times. |
