Andrus Reaches 2000 Monday, September 18th , 2023 San Diego's Elvis Andrus entered the record books today as he collected hit number 2000 at Cognizant Grounds at the Meadowlands. "I am proud of this. Not too many players reach this level. You have to be around quite a few years and you have to get a lot of hits," Andrus said after the game. On his milestone day he went 1 for 4 as the Padres won 5-1 over the New Jersey Pioneers. Andrus has chalked up a career batting average of .268 with 2000 hits, 97 homers and 735 RBIs.
