Gavin Sheets Strokes 3 Home Runs Friday, September 13th , 2030 It was a special day for Gavin Sheets, but less so for the Columbus Clippers. Sheets slammed three home runs against the Iowa Cubs, but the Cubs outhit him and got the win by a score of 7-6. "Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The Columbus first baseman finished the day at Huntington Park with 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 6 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Gavin Sheets hit a two-run home run off Joel Baez in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Joel Baez in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Rodger Ruggles in the 9th.
