Vargas Gets AA NE #1 Pitcher Trophy

The Trenton Thunder felt very secure when they sent Sergio Vargas out to the hill last month. The 25-year-old starter went after Double-A Northeast hitters with a vengeance and earned September's Pitcher of the Month award.
He went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA as he struck out 20 in 20 innings over 3 starts.
Since his debut in the league, Vargas has posted 17 victories and 3 defeats with an ERA of 2.97.

Andy Roberts Winner in Double-A Northeast

For a rookie just breaking in, Andy Roberts certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the AA NE Batter of the Month award for September.
The 27-year-old first baseman for the Altoona Curve hit .406 with 2 home runs, 15 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
In a career spanning 236 games, Roberts has batted .278 with 218 hits, 12 home runs, 113 RBIs, and 91 runs scored.

Breaking AA NE News: The Offseason Begins

The 2030 season has come to a close and the offseason has begun. Double-A Northeast fans are all too willing to entertain fantastic trade scenarios or shoot the breeze about their team's prospects for next season. But they really don't like the offseason, because the offseason means waiting. That star player who might be snagged in a blockbuster deal won't don his new team's uniform, step into the box or hurl a fastball down the pipe for many months yet. The next months will provide a different sort of activity, though, as teams reassess and retool for the coming campaign.
