League Championship Series Game 1 Victory for Sosa and Houston
|
The Houston Astros powered past the visiting Boston Red Sox, 3-1, in the opener of the League Championship Series at Minute Maid Park today. Houston starting pitcher Richard Sosa threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball, to lead the charge. The Astros now lead the series 1-0.
Andres Artola chipped in for Houston with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Sosa.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
